Day 11 – Last day of campaigning

The campaign trail has been such a wonderful experience! Every time we were at the booth, or we spoke in classes, we appreciated every moment that we were interacting with students and loved engaging with all of you.

With the campaign coming to a close, don’t hesitate to ask us any other questions you may have at votejdl@gmail.com. Also, please check out Our Platform, follow us on Twitter @voteJDL and like us on Facebook, Vote JDL.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you. We could not have done any of this without you, and we appreciate all of your support!

Please vote on January 31st and February 1st. This is our Queen’s University, and you need and AMS Executive team that will stand up for you!

Day 10 – Wrapping up the weekend

Doug, Mira and Tristan at QISA Formal

Looking back, it was such a great weekend! Yesterday, we had the opportunity to see Excetera, which was absolutely hilarious and very well performed! They addressed several issues at Queen’s that we also recognized in our platform, and they can and should be rectified!

Last night we also attended the annual QISA Formal. The dresses and dancing were unbelievable and the food was delicious! We had such an incredible time and encourage all those who didn’t attend to go next year!

So far today, we have been booth sitting in the Queen’s Centre and will be here for the rest of the day. Please stop by! We have been interacting and engaging with several students, sharing our ideas and we are so happy with all the positive feedback we have been getting! Team JDL’s priorities are to enhance your student life, academics, heath and wellness and to increase student advocacy, and we are so glad that these priorities really resonante with students.

For more specific details, please check out Our Platform!

Day 9 – What If It Were All Possible?

It’s a beautiful day in Kingston this morning, and a phenomenal start to the weekend!

Looking back on the week, we went to several class talks, met so many students and had an incredible time booth sitting, as well. We released our second video that can be viewed here:

What If It Were All Possible? Vote JDL for AMS Exec

We have has such an incredible time interacting and engaging with students. We love hearing your feedback and we really enjoy answering your questions.

We are really looking forward to QISA formal tonight, and we hope to see you around campus today!

2nd video: Check it out here!

Another video! This time we’re asking you “what if it were all possible?”

What if you had a voice?
What if you could explore practical skills and personal interests through extracurricular classes?
What if you had improved library resources?
What if we held the administration more accountable?
What if mental health research and talk became action?
What if you could be part of reviving homecoming tradition?
What if you could have an even safer campus?
What if you had a say in the revitalization of the JDUC?
What if you had much healthier food options on campus?
What if Queen’s hosted more premier athletic events?
What if your Queen’s prioritized equity and accessibility?
What if this was all possible?

On January 31st and February 1st
vote JDL for AMS Exec!

Day 6 – Presidential Debate

After last night’s debate between the Vice President Operations candidates, Team JDL continues to reach out to students during class talks and at our booth! We believe Tristan represented the team’s vision admirably during last night’s debate, just as Mira did the night before.

We are also overjoyed with our first campaign video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iL08ORLVJE), which surpassed 1,000 views within the first 24 hours of being released. Thank you all for your tremendous support! Stay tuned to our Facebook page (facebook.com/voteJDL) and Twitter (@voteJDL), where we will continue to provide updates on the campaign, including when our next video will be released!

We are all so excited for tonight’s Presidential debate between Doug and the other Presidential candidates! Please show your support, and join us in the Lower Ceilidh at 7:00pm! If you can’t make it out, thanks to QTV you can live steam it on their website!

Also, your questions are very important to us and we would love to answer them! Tweet them and add #AMSvote so that every candidate can have a chance to share their ideas with you.

We can’t wait to see you bright and early tomorrow at our booth in the Queen’s Centre and we are really looking forward to stopping by your classes, too!

Fact sheets RE: Blue Light and Library Occupancy Apps

We had been getting some questions regarding our plans to re-open the PEC for more space for Athletics and Recreation and our plan to revitalize the JDUC, so we made some fact sheets about these platform points. We received great feedback when we posted those fact sheets, so we thought we would create some more for our plans to create Blue Light and Library Occupancy Apps for your phones, which we’ve also been getting some questions about. Remember, if you have any more questions about these and other platform points please do not hesitate to contact us!

Day 4 – Great start to the week!

It has been a great day campaigning for team JDL! We were first at our booth in the Queen’s Centre, answering questions and meeting a ton of great faces! We then moved on to Mac-Corry and we have been here for most of the day!

We got the great opportunity to visit a lot of classes and we thank you for all of your time! If we haven’t seen you yet, we will certainly stop by your classes at some point throughout the week. Please stop by our booth tomorrow and ask us as many questions as you have about our team, our vision and or our platform! We’re excited to answer your questions and would love to hear your input too. Tomorrow we will start at The BioSci Complex between 8-12. Be in Mac-Corry between 12-4, and finally in the Lower Ceilidh between 4-8!

Also, our very first campaign video was released today! Please watch it here and spread it around to all your friends as well!

Fact sheets RE: JDUC Revitalization and the PEC

We’ve been getting some questions regarding our plans to re-open the PEC for more space for Athletics and Recreation and our plan to revitalize the JDUC. We thought it would be a good idea to compile these questions and create some quick “fact sheets” that will hopefully answer a lot of your questions regarding these platform points. However, if you have any more questions about these and other platform points please do not hesitate to contact us!

Day 3- Wrapping up the first weekend

Another busy day on the campaign trail saw Team JDL open our booth in the Queen’s Centre this morning and engage a number of students who were headed to the library and the gym! We have received some excellent feedback on our team and our vision and have been addressing questions and concerns as much as we can! Our team headed over to the JDUC for the afternoon while the candidates prepared for a follow-up interview with the Journal. The Journal will be publishing a story on our team on Tuesday, as well as an article with regards to what we want to do with the JDUC!

After the interview the candidates spent some time preparing for tomorrow evening’s debate (7pm, West Campus) and then joined our volunteers at Leonard Caf where we engaged hungry first year students before Sunday night dinner. Tomorrow the team will be at it again with booth hours in the Queen’s Centre and the JDUC, if you can’t find us at one then we’re not far away!

As always, keep the questions coming! We’re always open and willing to discuss current issues and our platform with students.

See you on the campaign trail!
